AI in industrial R&D

25 March 2026, 10:30 am
Forum Digital Transformation, Hall B2.137

Artificial intelligence (AI) is being widely discussed in industrial R&D. However, its effective application requires appropriate methodologies and a consistent, usable data foundation. In practice, formulation, process and instrument data are often fragmented, making knowledge reuse and data-driven decision-making difficult.

A Material Intelligence framework integrates laboratory data, workflows and AI within a consistent structure. An agent-based AI co-engineer supports this approach through context-aware search, document access and the analysis of structured laboratory data. On this basis, machine learning and Bayesian optimisation can be applied for predictive modelling and targeted experiment planning — even when data availability is limited.

The presentation demonstrates how Material Intelligence enables the practical application of AI in R&D laboratories and systematically supports decision-making in complex formulation environments.
